Designer Boats Australia is in the process of writting a build manual that will go through step by step building the DIY flat pack into a boat.

The advantage of supplying the Build manual is that the builder will be told the seqence of construction, trade tips and construction hints.

For the person who is new at aluminum boat building or fabrication, this manual will answer many questions and remove a lot of your concerns. The build manual combins with the welding schedule included in each set of construction drawings to cover many different possible senarios and issues that could be encountered.

I am writting the manual while I have been building a 5.7m Sabre-Gill (Runabout) in my garage with a friend. All the techiques have been written for the garage builder, however a fabrication workshop would find it very useful as it highlites the critical path of construction and many of the tips and ideas work in both the garage and professional workshop.

To ensure the manual is written to all levels of boat builders, I have been getting a fellow in Tasmania to use the raw sections and proof test it. He has been a valuable assistant and he is really enjoying the build and the product is of a very high standard.

As you can probably imagine this manual has interlectural property rights asociated with it and it is a niche thing for the DBA flat pack builder. Therefor it will be available to all people who buy a flat pack, but the manual will be an online manual that you will log in and read it, but not be able to make printed copies. At the completion of your project, your log rights will end safe guarding the manual.
